Indoor Mushroom Cultivation Class

I am super excited to announce that Little Village is offering its first indoor mushroom cultivation class!  On Saturday, August 2 from 10:30a-12p I will be partnering with another local mycophile – Brent – to teach this beginner’s level class on the fundamentals of growing your own Oyster mushrooms indoors utilizing what is known as a ‘mono tub’.  The class fee is $60 for up to 2 people, making this a great activity for families and groups of friends interested in learning more about this unique and multifaceted organism.  Email [email protected] for more information, or click here to register your spot.   Enrollment will close July 26 so that we can prepare the class materials.    

The class includes:

90 minutes of instruction covering the topics of basic mushroom terminology, morphology, and a step by step walk-through on how to begin to successfully grow your own mushrooms at home.

Join our Community Supported Mushroom Program!

Structured like a CSA, community members will be able to directly support our farm through the advanced purchase of a share of mushrooms….Community supported Mushrooms!  Opt for a half pound or full pound of mushrooms for a set amount of weeks, pay upfront, and get a discount on your produce in return. This type of community partnership helps farms – especially small, independent farms- with budgeting, projections and the acquisition of materials.

We have broken down the calendar into 3 ‘seasons’: Spring, Summer, and Autumn, with mushroom shares offered in full or half pound amounts as weekly or bi-monthly pick-ups.  Pick up times are Fridays from 9a to 4p at our new Little Village storefront location at 7590 South State Street in Lowville, just a couple of doors down from Jreck Subs.  Shares will be packaged as ‘chef’s mixes’ , with single variety options available upon request.   We are also offering free Monday deliveries to the Croghan- Copenhagen-Lowville-Lyons Falls areas.  Please let us know if you require delivery in the ‘notes’ section of your order upon check out.  

AUTUMN SHARES  are now available to purchase!  Summer Shares run from September 19 – December 19 (for a total of 14 weeks -7 weeks for the bi-monthly allotment) and plans range from $56 – $210   Please see the pricing tiers below for a full list of options.
